People
who know about the 1939 World's Fair usually know about Futurama, but
what they often forget is that there was a rival to the General Motors
vision of tomorrow. After Futurama, the second most popular
exhibit at the fair was Democracity. Where Futurama attempted to
show the world of 1960, Democracity was a gigantic diorama that set
its sights on the far off world of 2039.
That's all very well and good, you say, but why does this page show
the fair's centrepiece of the Trylon and Perisphere? Where the
heck is Democracity. As No. 2 would reply, that would be
telling. |
