This scene is fascinating because you can view it on two levels.
First, it is a wonderful example of the architectural promise that the
Modernist school offered the world. Second, since we've lived
through that promise, we know just how noisy and dreary this section
of town really was and why everyone cheered when the towers were
finally dynamited.
