H. G. Wells's
Things to Come had an
interesting take on dress in the year 2036.
You'll notice that underneath
their technocratic togas the people wear tunics with massive padding.
No, this isn't some precognition of '80s power suits. It's
because, for some unfathomable reason, the 21st century has abandoned
trouser pockets in favour of relocating them to the shoulders.
The shorts, however, remain
unforgivable. |
