Actually, Aesop is one of the short stories that make up Clifford D. Simak's 1952 novel City, wherein the human race decides that Jupiter would be a jolly good place to live and leave the Earth to Jenkins the robot and a race of genetically engineered talking canines who build a society so gaggingly sentimental that I was rooting for the intelligent ants when they overran the planet.
