From the fevered pages of
Hugo Gernsback's publications
we are proud to present Robocop-- or, at least, the 1924 model.
This radio-controlled behemoth boasted tank tracks, gyro-stabilised
legs, and a very unsympathetic disposition. It was designed as a
giant surrogate riot cop that the police could steer about in order to
improve community relations by scaring the living daylights out of
people. Aside as being as big as all get out, the Radio Police
Automation sported blinding searchlights, a waistline that sprayed
teargas, and arms that ended in sets of whirling truncheons.
It is, however, painted red, because that's such a
warm, friendly colour. |
