This is one of the first
science fiction books I ever read and I still think it has a certain
charm. Of course, that's what I said about the Ferret
Taunter's Annual. It's a juvenile novel told in the first person
about a "pet" robot named Rex and his boy on a colony on Ganymede.
When the boy's family is transferred home to Earth, Rex is sold off to
a local fungus farmer (fungus farmer?). As you might have
guessed, Rex runs away to be reunited with his master and goes through
all sorts of adventures until the requisite happy ending.
Check out the Cyclops
eye on Rex. Apparently depth perception was not a big design
feature. |
