In
1930, Westinghouse rolled out Elektro's father, Willie Vocalite.
Unlike Mr. Televox, Willie was much more of a proper robot, albeit of
the tin can variety.
Like his Dad, Willie
could turn on appliances at a distance, but he could also speak in a
"deep, baritone voice", stand, sit, move his arms, fire a gun and even
"taste" by measuring acidity.
He also shared Elektro's
weakness for a smoke and his eye for the ladies.
Like father, like son. |
