What is it about nuclear propulsion that makes
people check their common sense at the door? Granted, the power
efficiencies of an atomic drive has a lot going for it, but let's not
get carried away. Take, for example the Orion project, which had
the idea of dropping atomic bombs out the back and letting the blast
push the ship along. The maths said it should work, but I still
put it up there with the dynamite-powered motor car. |
