Hydrofoils are all very well and good, but you won't get any street cred around here unless they are a) huge, b) shaped more like airships than watercraft, c) equipped with rather odd telescoping floats, and d)  top-heavy with whacking big aeroplane engines that combine minimum efficiency with maximum noise.

Yes, any idea no matter how elegant can be overcome by excessive tinkering!
