The balmy weather and predictable winds have made Rigel the hang-gliding capital of the Galaxy. Not only do tourists come from all over to experience the national sport. but the Rigelians have become so enthused with the delights of gliding that the Gross Planetary Product has plunged over 90% from sheer neglect.

In order to combat this, the government has seen fit to install gigantic bug zappers at strategic locations. The loud bangs and smell of ozone and burning have become so prevalent in recent years that "Whoa! There goes another one!" has replaced "hello" as the customary form of greeting.
